Liberal Democrat campaigns are gathering pace in Birmingham Hodge Hill and Leicester South. With only two days to go to polling day on 15 July, support is growing for Nicola Davies and Parmjit Gill in the two constituencies. In Birmingham, 20 years of Labour neglect are convincing voters to vote for Nicola Davies, and in Leicester, the Liberal Democrats already control the City Council, ending many years of Labour rule, and seem set to win here. The Conservatives have no chance of winning in either seat!
The Labour candidate in Birmingham is one of Tony's Cronies, and the Labour Candidate in Leicester was the highly unpopular leader of the Labour Council before the Liberal Democrats took over. The LibDem leader, Charles Kennedy MP has visited both constituencies several times, and has been encouraged by the rising tide of support, but the Labour campaign is notable for the absence of the Prime Minister, Tony Blair. No mention is made of him in Labour's election literature. It is almost as if Labour are ashamed of him, and would suffer a major backlash if his image was used to promote their campaigns!
