"Liberal Democrats are building up a strong momentum in Shropshire for next year's County Council and General Elections" declared County Leader Peter Phillips at a recent LibDem AGM in South Shropshire, where LibDems run the District Council.
In Oswestry, the Borough's Tory administration collapsed and the LibDems now share power with the Independents. The LibDems already control the Town Council.
In Broseley, LibDems crushed Labour by 4-1 in a spectacular by-election win. The LibDems are now the largest group on the Town Council. The Tories were unable to field a candidate.
In a Bridgnorth Town by-election, LibDem Mary Salter similarly stormed in with 60% of the vote. The Tories were again unable to field a candidate.
And in the European elections, Cllr Phillips reminded members, "Liz Lynne MEP doubled her vote. Only one party is losing votes - the Labour Party - and their votes are going one way - to the Liberal Democrats"
