The Liberal Democrats are putting up a large field of candidates for the elections on 5 May, and hope to double their representation on the County Council. Telford is not affected, but in The Wrekin constituency, Shifnal and Albrighton are involved, which are outside the Telford & Wrekin Council area.
David Murray is contesting the Albrighton seat for the third time, and is busy campaigning in the division, which stretches from the A5 in the north, down to Burnhill Green in the south, and covers the parishes of Tong, Boscobel, Donington, Albrighton and Boningale. The LibDems have produced a manifesto for the County, "Putting Shropshire First", which is being distributed to every household.
An Albrighton and district Focus newsletter has been delivered in the area four times a year since David Murray was elected to Bridgnorth District Council in 2003, along with the LibDem "Shropshire Post" and other information. The other parties only bother to contact you for your vote every four years at election time.
At the Albrighton Parish Council Meeting on 21 April, at which all three candidates for the County Council were present, the Labour candidate said he hoped to see the Conservative candidate re-elected! This suggests that Labour is not worth voting for in the County election, if that is their attitude.
If you are registered to vote in the Albrighton electoral division, please support David Murray on 5 May. If you would like to help the LibDems, you could offer to deliver newsletters in your area, or make a donation to the campaign. A form is provided in the county manifesto, and any contributions will be gratefully received and acknowledged.
